just sharing.

I'm ready for golf season. I'm also ready to reconnect with the ocean via a surfboard. However, in light of snow-shred season coming to a close, I put together the last of the footage in a hurry last night to get something compiled to share with the peoples. Link here. Watch out. And also... a great interview with Louie Barletta. For those of you that aren't familiar with Louie's work see what's probably one of my top 3 favorite parts to any shred movie ever... here. via Bag of Suck. Basically if I could ask for anything in the universe, aside from money (or the abolition thereof), it would be a house with 10 acres, a trout stream and to be able to skateboard like Louie Barletta. Dramatic yes, but gnarly.... incredibly. It's the little things.

Finally a must read article from Rolling Stone. Banks are one thing. Heartless greed is quite another. These fuckers need to be dealt with one way or another. via Quality Peoples

Nice little variety for you folks while I compile my taxes. Enjoy and why don't you tell your friends up in this b!tch.

babies and cola, branded heroin, vintage ads

Soda_ad  Bottle_of_heroin_2

Back in the day, Bayer branded heroin and the cola crazies suggested starting the little ones as early as possible. Because, and I quote... "Laboratory tests over the last few years have proven that babies who start drinking soda during that early formative period have a much higher chance of gaining acceptance and 'fitting in' during those awkward pre-teen and teen years."

Found a great vintage advertising blog over at Found in Mom's Basement. Paula Zargaj-Reynolds does a fine job finding some remarkable ads, products and history long lost but not to be forgotten. It's worth spending a couple hours checking out all the incredible stuff. Seriously.

I posted this a while back but just wanted to reiterate it's amazingness. Makes me feel good about pretty much everything. Only wish I could be better at skateboarding. Maybe some day.

Weather

super simple depiction of the days weather in select cities. just click on the city closest to you (for those of us living in the sticks) and get an image of what you're working with. Project by Kurt Reidi and Steffi Gloor. Does anyone else think it's weird they have Reno listed?

When I first saw the new e trade commercials I watched this one over and over again. Brilliant. Shankapotamus.

you didn't even know

Great video about how incredibly fast our society is moving and increasing role technology plays in our lives. Among other things of course. Hence the reason you're reading this post on my blog. Blogger guys and girls.

catching up

So my bookmark folders are overflowing with things I've been ingesting over the past few months, so while all my Tahoe brethren enjoy the luxurious amount of snow they've recived over the past few days, I've decided to share some of this stuff with you. Things of interest, to me and hopefully to you, follow.

Secret Forts is a compilation of cool things from cool places  Some fashion, some photos, all business.

Seed Magazine is a smorgasbord of insight on everything from design to the cosmos. Been trying to get over here to read more, but instead I'll rely on you all to tell me about some of the things I'm missing.

Merloin Mann is obviously the man, producing things like 5ives and 43 folders, two very different websites that carry a very similar tone of putting out quality ish all day every day.

Art by M.S Corley- subtle, thoughtful and just plain creative genius. Look at every single one of his pieces over and over and over again. Multiple times.

A great post on Pharyngula about what to say to creationists that try to act like they matter.

That should get you started. Once you're done with these let me know and we can begin out next lesson.
